Background:
I have coached informally for decades and formally for 2 years. I coach with power of course, and am coaching many riders with heart rate only and some with nothing but tape on their handlebars (no power, no heart rate, no speed).
I have been a competitive cyclist for 35 years. I competed for 10 years at the regional and national level. I have over 35 wins as a Category 1 racer, including multiple State Championships and qualifying for Olympic Trials and Pan Am Trials. I have also won 3 New Zealand North Island Masters Championships. I have 30+ wins and several State Championships as a Master’s rider and have been on National Podiums in this category as well. Over the decades I have had more than 40 winning lead outs. Of course, in my mind, a good lead out is every bit as beautiful as a sprint win, although they usually coexist quite happily.
In the early 80s I began training with power with Eddie Borysewicz and a Monark ergometer at the OTC.
Personally, I was the manager and principal owner of Morgul Bismark Bicycles in Boulder, CO in the ‘90s.
Coaching Philosophy:
Sooner or later, often by accident, every rider has a good day; a day when the pedals spin in a whirr
and the power flows. Having that power on the right day and having fun while getting there is what
training and peaking are all about.
Client Testimonials:
I have been working with Randy for about one year. In that time, I went from a cat 4 with some potential to a cat 2 in cross (my focus), and cat 3 on the road after a handful of races. Randy is methodical and calm, and is willing to adapt the plan to get the most out each week. He also understands that I have numerous life constraints, and so helps me maximize the quality in each workout. His personality and approach is hugely appreciated!

Our relationship has been the best cycling investment. It's getting me over the finish line faster than any hardware ever did.
