Background:

Alessandra's athletic background includes a wide variety of pursuits ranging from mountaineering and alpine snowboarding to weight lifting, motorcycle racing, and collegiate volleyball prior to focusing on road racing and time trials. Her cycling experience includes victories in the Mt. Evans Hill Climb and Santa Fe Stage Race as well as a category upgrade in her first season of racing immediately followed by a third place overall at the Record Challenge TT. Alessandra has achieved these results while maintaining a busy academic schedule. With a professional background that includes 10+ years in manufacturing and software development, she understands the challenge of balancing a training schedule with work and life demands. From the outset of her cycling career, Alessandra has trained and raced with power, has stayed abreast of the evolving ways that this technology can benefit a cyclist's training, how it provides valuable feedback on a rider's progress, improves the quality of their training, and helps to manage their overall training load and race day peaking. Alessandra holds a Bachelors Degree in Systems/Industrial Engineering, is a USAC certified cycling coach, and is fluent in Spanish and Italian.

Coaching Philosophy:

The pillars of my coaching philosophy are adaptability, communication, flexibility, and resiliency. I'm a firm believer that any training plan should be built on sound scientific principles along with leveraging proven techniques from the field using the best tools available. Yet any fitness or race program, no matter how well thought out or brilliantly conceived, is only as good as how it fits with the the unique dimensions and demands of your life as well as your personal goals. I approach working with people under the premise that there is no “one size fits all” routine. What is good for one person may not be particularly successful for another which leads back to the point of adopting a dynamic outlook. Having juggled a full-time career, sports, family, and responsibility for many years, I know how delicate a balancing act it can be.

I like to think of this as a rewarding collaboration between athlete and coach working towards a common ambition. I understand full well that nobody knows how you are feeling, what your situation is, and your day-to-day state any better than you do. That's exactly the kind of invaluable feedback that I place great emphasis on in frequently assessing and, if needed, revising our plan to make it more productive for you.

Are you just starting out and wanting to try competition? Are you a seasoned masters rider competing in a tough field and trying to take your racing to the next level? Are you a category racer trying to earn that elusive upgrade? My aim is to help you succeed and have fun with cycling no matter what your level or goals might be.
