Background:

I've been cycling since I've been 14 years old. I got into with my dad and brothers. We began with mountain biking, but moved to also include the road. My passion was road cycling. I was never a junior all star and had to figure out that I had to work hard to achieve my goals. After a few years I was finally able to be competitive. By the time I was moving on to college I accepted a scholarship from Marian College for cycling.

While at Marian College I was able to learn more and grow as a cyclist. I spent 4 seasons road cycling in the spring and summer, while spending the falls track racing. I also was able to spend one summer racing over in Europe at the cycling center.

The following year I began racing as a pro on the American circuit. Here is where I may have gained most of my knowledge. I've been like a sponge over the past 6 years trying to learn from others on how they train, reach goals, race tactics and such. I also purchased a powermeter. I've spent the last 5 years trying to learn the insides and outs of training and racing with a powermeter, and have found it to be the turning point in my personal racing. It’s a science. I have self coached myself and also had a few personal coaches along the way. I have been able to find success such as finishing in the top 20 at USPRO road nationals, top 10 in the USPRO criterium and win a prestigious stage race like the Fitcburg-Longsjo.

I started coaching a couple of years ago with a few athletes. They range from weekend warrior to cat 1’s and from masters to espoirs. I enjoy passing on the knowledge and experience I have gained over my cycling career. I love guiding athletes towards their goals and potential.

Coaching Philosophy:

Training is a complex process, but two things that have stood out to me are pedaling the whole time and proper recovery. Pedaling the whole time is about utilizing your time and making the most of it. Then you have to recover properly. You can only benefit from your training when you let your body recover and muscles repair from the breakdowns that occur during intense training and racing.
