Residing in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, I found my two-wheel passion at a young age, and getting an early start on a BMX bike lit the fire deep within. "Growing up" meant taking the antics to a mountain bike, but it wasn't long before the high-speed lure of sportbike trackdays and motocross took over. Injuries and broken bones meant having a road bike around for rehab and fitness was essential, but ultimately, the road bike became my primary focus. After school, I spent eight years as an Audi diagnostic specialist. Technical diagnostics and problem solving are a strong suit, and after being introduced to the concepts of power-based training for cycling, a paradigm shift happened: my passion for cycling was now bolstered by technology and progression. I began learning, training, and road racing, and I haven’t looked back since. In 2013 I founded Hyline Endurance, a power-based indoor training and bike fitting studio for cyclists.
In a broad sense I strive to inspire, using a blend of tradition and progression to deliver the most effective coaching for my clients. This means shaping a "complete athlete” fundamentally by addressing all of the components of success. Fitness, skills, form, mental game, motivation, and other factors all have an influence on your results, and all limiting factors need to be identified and improved. To maximize the effectiveness, time efficiency, and confidence of your goal pursuit, it’s essential to leverage the progressive methodologies and science-backed, power-based concepts to manage training efforts.
In a narrower scope, specificity is absolutely key to coaching success. This means that my approach to your success is tailored to your specific goals and built around your specific lifestyle factors. Accurate power-based training and testing ensures constant management of your fitness and recovery, and it allows for a higher degree of training that is specific to the demands of your target events!
Joe does a great job of keeping in touch and of keeping me focused. I couldn't ask for anything more from my training and coach. It's a great relationship, and I value all the info and feedback I'm receiving. - Matt, Pennsylvania
Thanks for all your help with my training. Your passion for helping cyclists develop themselves in the sport has been extremely beneficial for myself and others. Keep up the good work! - Aaron Barr, Cat 1 MTB Racer
I toyed around with the potential of coaching mainly because I know there is significant value in a structured training program. I typically just went day by day with my training, with no real focus on anything. But as my level of racing increased, my results decreased, and I knew I had to make some changes if I wanted to be more competitive; what I was doing just was not cutting it. I hooked up with Joe for a few reasons: I knew Joe had in-depth training that I knew nothing about, and I knew he had a high level of passion for cycling. Those two things
I knew would get me to the next level. Having a person to set my schedule and keep me on track made me do things I would typically have bailed on.
Then as the season grew closer I could see the changes start to come to the surface, and watching my numbers rise
and seeing performances executed in real life was so rewarding. If anyone is looking to go to the next level, this is the place to be for the results you want.

Joe truly understands my needs can be different than others' and prescribes workouts accordingly. He is very accessible in responding to an unexpected need in a timely manner, is very encouraging and realistic on race day, and has helped me become a more "all around" cyclist, along with making me stronger. - Abe Barley, Masters Road Racer
