Background

I discovered my love for cycling eight years ago and that passion has only increased over time. Cycling has saved my life—literally. When I turned 30, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. After my treatments were complete, I became determined to stay healthy and my husband encouraged me to get into cycling. Cycling has changed my life and made me a healthier and happier person.

Currently, I serve as the Assistant Women’s Cycling Coach at Lees-McRae College, a Division 1 Collegiate Cycling Team in Banner Elk, NC. I lead a weekly women’s bike ride for all levels of women—beginners to more experienced. I have also served as the head coach of a junior’s cycling team (comprised of middle and high school students). In addition, I train several endurance athletes in my job as a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer.

I am an active member of the cycling community and serve on the Carolinas Association Women’s Development Committee. We work to increase the participation of women in cycling competitive events.

Coaching Philosophy

I strongly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to do what he or she loves and promoting bicycling, as a way of life, is what I love. I live, breathe, and dream of riding my bike. It is that love that fuels me.
