In January 2006 I set a goal of riding in the 2006 L'Etape de Tour (Stage
15 of the Tour - 191 km, 14,000+ ft of climbing and finishing on L'Alpe d'
Huez). In early January I was doing 2 hour rides with very little
climbing. I knew I needed lots of help to get ready so I called Hunter and
under his direction started using a power meter. In early testing Hunter
determined my threshold power was 200 watts. He created a program for me
and adjusted it often to accommodate my schedule. By May my threshold power
was 275 watts, but more importantly my watts/kg was up by over 50%, and a
six hour ride with 9,000 ft of climbing was no problem.
Without Hunter's
expertise, enthusiasm, and guidance I never would have been able to figure
out how to train myself to do the Etape and be fit enough to enjoy the
experience. Thanks Hunter !!! I am looking forward to working with you on
my 2007 goals !!!
