"Robin's advice on power-based training has been invaluable. His analysis of my power meter data has helped transform a steep learning curve into something manageable as well as enjoyable. Prior to working with Robin or power data analysis, I had started training again after a 2 year hiatus with the intention of racing in '07. However, I made a decision to begin racing in '06 to gain experience. What has helped me the most is his insight into balancing training stress with rest periods. As a new racer, I have had many questions as to when I should taper, how much I should train and how much I should rest. At several points in the last few months I've found myself on somewhat of an edge of overtraining and uncertain how to proceed. Robin has been able to make sense of the power data and help me through these difficult periods in my training. As I result, I have made some significant gains across all power levels and more importantly, enjoyed the process and stayed healthy and strong.
I recently rode at LOTOJA - 206 miles from Logan UT to Jackson, WY and finished *solo* in 13 hours, 50 minutes. This was a real accomplishment for me considering that I had not trained for it specifically nor had any rides over 70 miles this season or in the last 2 years. When I decided to do it, Robin gave me advice on how best to structure my rides around the time I had left and more specifically how to taper and adjust to altitude so I could have a successful ride. I am thrilled with what I was able to accomplish and would like to thank Robin for his great work!
