Peaks Coaching Group Virginia Camp 2004
The Peaks Camp was one of the best training weeks I have ever had in my short cycling career. I was not sure what to expect when I arrived in Bedford, VA-one this was for sure I was no longer in the flat lands of NJ and NY. Every day had a very clear purpose-sprinting, climbing, team skills, TTs, etc. I was impressed with the wealth of knowledge from all the coaches and staff. Nothing can simulate the on the bike coaching that I received for six straight days. There is nothing like learning how to descend by following ex-pros fly down the Blue Ridge Mountains. I came out of camp with very clear lactate threshold power figures-(nothing like a 20K climb all out to give you a very clear idea of what you are capable of). I went into camp questioning my sprinting-came out we confidence in my sprint. I went into camp with no TT experience-I lined up for 4 TTs this summer having a good idea of what to expect (lot’s of sufferingJ). I was able to clearly identify my strengths and weaknesses as a cyclist-and exited with the knowledge to improve my conditioning and technique. For one week of my life I lived and trained like a pro. Road in the AM, napped in the afternoon, massaged by the expert soigneur Randy, ate a nice dinner, was enlightened by coaches-hit the sack and did it all over again the next day. Hal Dillon |
