Background

As a kid, I was always riding my bike around the city. I loved the freedom it provided. At that time, my main sport was gymnastics, so riding my bike was pretty much just recreational. Later, in my early 20’s, after completing a crossing of the alps with my new mountain bike, I was hooked. During that trip, I ordered a race bike. As soon as I got home from the trip, I unpacked my new bike and started road cycling and training right away. Since I was always striving for the best possible training in my limited time, I also started reading books on training, nutrition, and coaching. I found a lot of parallels between cycling training and those skills used in my job as an instructor pilot for the Air Force, especially when it came to the motivational and psychological aspects of training. That was my ultimate motivation to start a new career in cycling once I retired from the Air Force.

Coaching philosophy

My main goal is to enable my athletes to perform at their highest level and be able to live their passion. I stay current with the newest advances in training, analytics and other areas of interest and incorporate what I learn into my coaching.

Finding the right life/training balance is just as important as the physical aspect of training. I keep the overall holistic health of the athlete in mind, so he/she can train and succeed, even at an advanced age. I spend a lot of time listening to my athletes, so that I can come up with a solid plan to help them reach their peaks. I love and find it very rewarding to see my clients succeed.

Notable achievement
2016 reaching 2nd place in age group Race am Rhein (Düsseldorf)
Multiple podium finishes in Air Force triathlon and road races
