Coach Julie McKenzie

It's often stated by attendees at PCG Camps that the "brochure" can't even come close to describing the value that is attained. But let's try anyway! There's WKO analysis and season preparation by the master himself. There are daily rides where skills like sprinting, counter-steering, descending(!) and pace lining are taught and practiced. There's on-the-road race scenarios where teams battle it out for all the glory. There are stories from Hunter's many, many years in the industry and as a professional cyclist. There's SAG support, amazing A, B and C Road Groups for different levels, massages, yoga, stretching, on-staff bike mechanics, incredible food, bike fits, rider video analysis... There's just so much!

The goal of this cycling camp is to focus on improving your ride skills and techniques, as well as group riding techniques and strategies. You will learn the basics of training with power and surplus HR and perceived exertion training. Athletes from all over the world descend upon the beautiful rolling terrain of Clermont, FL throughout the year. Clermont is the perfect place for a cycling camp with awesome hill training opportunities, quiet country roads, proximity to the National Training Center, and home to Peaks Coaching Group Female Coach Julie McKenzie. Receive daily on-the-road coaching from our coaches and team, as well as post-ride power analysis and training that will help set you up for the season right!

    Downtime:

Your days will be action-packed with breakfast, recovery routines, lunch, afternoon seminars, and evening dinners, so there will be little down-time.

    Weather:

Weather in Clermont, FL in February is typically full of sunshine, with lows in the 50’s in the mornings, rising to the 70’s and sometimes low 80’s in the afternoon. While Central Florida has been known to suffer a cold spell with 30’s overnight and into the morning, this is rare (particularly as we get closer to March).

     ***Please bring layers***

Extra days to extend your stay:

Want to extend your travels while in Florida? Why not add a few extra days to do some extra exploring, on or off your bike. We have arranged great rates for attendees who want to add a few days prior or post our PCG Women’s Clermont training camp experience.

MCKENZIE

Peaks Coaching Group Elite Coach

I’m passionate about the growth of the Sport of Cycling, particularly in the areas of Women and Masters. While being strong and able to go fast is helpful, skills are key -- for a competitive advantage as well as for the Peloton’s safety. I frequently lead women’s clinics and skill rides, and am certified to teach the USA Cycling Beginner Racer Program.

Standing on the podium is awesome, but not the only way to measure success. Maybe you don’t necessarily want to race, but to perform your best in a cycling event. Did you set and meet, better yet – exceed challenging, yet achievable goals? Were you able to balance ‘life’ with ‘training and competing'? Did you view that little overuse injury as a setback, or as an opportunity? Are your nutrition, strength, mobility and recovery routines dialed in?

That’s where having a coach is so valuable; my job is to really get to know you, help you plan and manage your training in a structured way while ensuring you stay healthy and keep it moving forward

WANGERIN

Peaks Coaching Group Elite Coach

Coaching is now my passion. No two athletes are ever exactly alike. Everyone comes hardwired with their own set of internal and external motivators, along with their own natural strengths and limiters. So much of the appeal to coaching, is learning each of these individual components within each individual athlete, and then expanding on the elements that are already present, while digging in more deeply to the raw and rough pieces that can still be cultivated for more growth and development.

I believe in using as much tangible data as possible that is available to each athlete via the use of power-metrics and heart rate data in both cycling and running, along with an emphasis on the psychological and intrinsic feedback from athletes. I am a huge believer in focusing on form and biomechanics to ensure an athlete is not wasting time with faulty muscle patterns, and also helping teach athletes a greater sense of mind-body connection so there is intention to every workout.

I’ve coached athletes to National titles, Worlds Qualifications, Overall race wins, multiple successful Ironman race finishes (including first timers), and PR’s at all distances of triathlon, working with athletes at every level, from beginner to semi-pro. After many years in the triathlon coaching industry, it is a huge honor to finally be part of such a fantastic team of Cycling and Endurance Sport Coaches here at Peaks Coaching Group!

Experience an unparalleled coaching experience in gorgeous Clermont, FL.
And learn a thing or two about power.

Hunter
ALLEN

President and CEO

Legendary cycling coach, co-author of Training and Racing with a Power Meter and Cutting-Edge Cycling, co-developer of TrainingPeaks, WKO+ software, and founder of Peaks Coaching Group.

Widely known as one of the top experts in the world in coaching endurance athletes using power meters, Hunter Allen's goal has always been to teach athletes how to maximize their training and racing potential through professional analysis of their power data. This goes hand in hand with his philosophy that a power meter helps athletes discover their true strengths and weaknesses, quantitatively assess their training improvements, and refine and maximize the focus of their training.

As a coach, Hunter makes sure to look at each athlete as a whole person. He excels at designing custom programs designed to maximize each rider's potential. He believes we are human beings working closely with other human beings, and it's important to him to work hard to find your strengths and weaknesses and to help you improve your skills, then develop a realistic plan that works for life. It is important that a coach learn as much as he can about you as an athlete and as a person in order to better develop a plan for success. He has now coached over 400 athletes and still learns something new from each one.
