Coaching Focus: TT, XC, Gravel, Triathlon, and Running

Background

I have been coaching now for 7 years mainly in Ireland and the UK, but I have worked remotely and still work remotely with athletes across Europe, Australia and the USA. I was an aspiring professional athlete late to the game at 24 but that didn’t put me off. I worked my way up with the aid of a coach from A4 (beginner) to a A1 rider in Ireland. I was 2nd in the Northern Ireland 25mile and 100mile TT Championships in 2014 with other notable race results in category one races.

Unfortunately, I was hampered by injury, and eventually, a numb left leg put me off the bike in 2015, which is when I decided to pursue coaching as a profession. I learnt extensively from my coach at the time and when I had the time while working for ChainReaction Cycles I would read endlessly everything I could get about endurance and performance from all different sports. I also wanted to understand what had led me to injury and wanted to make sure that I had the skills to not only help people train well but keep them on the bike in good health so that they could perform for a long time.

I started working for myself 7 years ago coaching people for free to help raise my profile and since then I am still working with some of the riders I took on at the very start. Both of these guys are on teams and performing at the top of the sport in World Cup XC or at The Tour D’Lavenir.

I get a kick out of working with anyone that wants to achieve the best of their ability and push the limits of what they thought was possible. I do this through consistent communication, science back training, and coach intuition.

Coaching Philosophy

Everything I do with an individual is to transform their lives and bring them closer to their goals through a high-performance methodology. The first pillar of performance that is fundamental when working with anyone and what I base my whole coaching philosophy on is “Health!”.

This is the most important aspect I have found in 7 years of coaching and we need to aim for this to be in order before we can move on and improve all the aspects of high performance. Its important to me that the athlete is in a great state of mental and physical health before embarking on a training plan so that we can get the best out of each other. Commitment and consistency will then come easily and the plan and process will take off and grow as we get to know each other and the ins and outs of their body.

I use intuition, science-backed training principles, and world-class data analysis to ensure that you are getting the best training stimulus based on the type of individual you are.

I'm a passionate and dedicated coach who loves to help others to push their boundaries. I have over seven years of experience in coaching, with a focus on health, fitness, and nutrition.
