Background

Jón Oddur has been active from early childhood at the age of 12.  He rode his first century ride 160km gravel trip with over 2400m incline) with his best friend, with one sleepover in a cabin on top of one mountain peak. After this trip his interest for cycling and endurance sports woke and has never stopped. The following years, he used his MTB to explored new routes from his home town and usually arrived late for dinner, as he had so much fun riding.

His interest in sports and activities continued to develop, and when his first child was born, he started coaching in fitness clubs, spinning, boxing, boot camp and personal coaching. In 2007 he finished his first marathon, his first-ever running race.  In 2010 he wanted do something more than a marathon and grouped up with friends for swimming lessons to improve his form.  During these lessons, they founded the fourth triathlon club in Iceland.

After finishing his first Ironman in 2013, he still wanted to push himself further and enrolled in both the Norseman and Swissman Extreme Triathlon lotteries.  He won entry into the Swissman Extreme Triathlon. After finishing Swissman, he took few years off, reducing his training load, shorter races and travelled with his son, while competing all over the world in Taekwondo. But another big race was always in his mind--to travel half the globe to Patagonia and race the Patagonman Extreme Triathlon, which he finished 2018.

During this triathlon times he has been active coach both in his club and also with individuals locally and online, coaching people in cycling, running and triathlon in all distances.

Coaching Philosophy

Each of us are different, and our needs and goals are different too. If we are aiming to reach out for the same goal as the person standing next to us, we know the best way is not to use the same approach as he or she. Each athlete's approach is different, gender, age, work and country have different environment and so should your training. My goal is not only to help you to find the best approach for you to reach your goal but it´s also to watch out for you not to not to overtrain. Even though we can design your perfect training plan there is always that time in live that we need to adjust the plan as live occurs. That´s why we lay down the plan to make adjustments for you to reach your goals.
